Prior to the boom of free public bath houses in the early 20th century, a series of floating baths were already sprinkled throughout the waterfronts of New York City. These baths were seasonal and eventually phased out after the rivers had become too polluted. / Floating Bath for installation citywide, architect Johnathan B. Franklin.
